Bipartisan Border Betrayal
The New American

The New American, July 26, 2004

Addressing the National Council of La Raza’s annual conference in Phoenix, presumptive Democrat presidential nominee John Kerry called for a comprehensive amnesty for illegal aliens — thereby staking out a position similar to his Republican opponent.

“It is time to fulfill the promise of America, so that those who work hard and take responsibility and build a better life for them and their families, and live by the rules, and pay their taxes and raise their families have a right to share in America and its citizenship in the fullest,” declared Kerry. Within 100 days of taking office, promised the Massachusetts Democrat, he would “propose a four-part plan that would give a citizenship path to illegal immigrants who have paid taxes while living here and who pass a security screening,” reported the June 30 Washington Times.

La Raza is the largest and most powerful member of the network of radical organizations promoting la reconquista — the seizure of the southwestern U.S. for Mexico through what is now illegal immigration but would become (with open borders) migration. Yet the atmosphere at the Phoenix event was solidly bipartisan. The keynote speaker at the conference was Republican Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.), an outspoken amnesty advocate. Utah Republican Congressman Chris Cannon, who survived a surprisingly stiff primary challenge from immigration reform candidate Matt Throckmorton, also attended as a participant in a panel discussion.
